Continuous Glucose Monitoring

Recently I have been incorporating a new technology called continuous glucose monitoring, or CGM, in my coaching work with a selection of nutrition clients. This involves wearing a device (usually on the tricep area of the arm) that uses sophisticated biosensors to measure blood glucose levels in real time–with profound implications.

 

The truth is our understanding of metabolic health has been evolving significantly in recent years. We are beginning to learn how optimizing one’s blood sugar levels can lead to amazing outcomes: from helping people achieve their ideal body weight to–in some cases–reversing the harmful course of chronic inflammation and pre-diabetic/diabetic conditions. A real game changer.

 

What I like about CGM is that it provides personalized, empirical information about how you are doing metabolically throughout the day. The data allow us to identify the foods, activities and environments that trigger unwanted spikes in glucose levels–and course correct–in real time.
